We are getting ready for our next term break already! Second term ends March 24th and then we will have a break until April 23rd when the students return. We are looking forward to having Esther’s Mom and sister and niece come out over our break. It is so fun to have visitors and show them around where we call home now. We would welcome you to come anytime and stay with us too!
Typically our rainy season starts during third term but we are currently experiencing very heavy rains and have had flooding in our gymnasium and other buildings.
Ben will be coaching Men’s volleyball next term and they started practice and tryouts this week. He really enjoys getting the opportunity to work with students outside the classroom.
We were able to have all Ben’s Spanish I & Spanish II classes over to our house to practice their comprehension by watching a movie in Spanish. Esther made homemade tortilla chips and salsa for a movie snack.
We hosted several game nights at our house this term for students. They really enjoy getting to spend time out of their dorms at different staff members’ houses.
We also had a fun “Chopped” night with our caring community kids. They enjoyed getting to do some cooking in our kitchen and just having a fun time together. We ended up with some creative desserts
The mystery basket ingredients were pears (the first I have ever seen at the dukas here in Kijabe), homemade tortillas, sweetened condensed milk, saltine-like crackers, and homemade raspberry sauce.
We also had some celebrations in our family this term.
Ben’s 37th birthday on January 24th.
Titchie (Elementary) Field Day, water games. The boys had so much fun! They even put a water slide down the hill for a couple hours
Elijah started rolling over on March 5th!
Josiah lost his first tooth on March 6th!
Gabe’s 4th Birthday on March 8th!
And…even when you drive into Nairobi to do some shopping, you still know you are in Africa!!
Prayer Requests
-pray that the road coming down to RVA will be passable March 23rd-24th as the students are leaving to head home for a break.
-pray for our health, our family still battles a lot more illness than before we came to Africa
-pray for a family in our community whose 18 year old daughter was murdered
-pray for the unreached people groups in Africa to whom AIM is reaching out and for our students’ families who are living and working among them
-pray for Esther’s mom and sister who will be travelling to Kenya in April
-pray for Livingston’s family who had to return to South Korea after losing support and are seeking God’s will for what the future holds for their family. Livingston is a senior here at RVA that Ben mentors. He is Korean but has lived his whole life in Africa. It is hard on him to have his parents return to Korea so far away and to a place that is not his home.
