A Typical Day

Well no day here is really typical :). We have so many different things going on but here is a snapshot of what today looked like:

Wake up at 7:00 am. Get the kids up and dressed. Take a load of laundry out of the wash and hang it on the line. Make breakfast and feed the kids. Put away the clean dishes that are on the counter from last night. Sweep the floors. Somewhere in there, get dressed. Put another load of laundry in the wash. Clean out the milk cans. Walk the kids to the babysitter’s house. Drop off the milk cans at the cafeteria. Walk to new staff orientation in the staff chai room and be ready to start at 8:30 am. Devotions and speakers until 12:00. Pick up filled milk cans from the cafeteria. Pick up mail from the mailroom (our first piece of mail from the US arrived today! Thanks Ben and Lori Image may be NSFW.

) Pick up kids from the babysitter. Go home and make lunch. Take clothes off the line and hang up the load from the washer. Drop kids back off at the babysitter. Return to new staff orientation by 1:30. More speakers until 3:00 pm. Pick up kids from the babysitter. Take clothes off the line. Walk into Kijabe to purchase tools from the hardware duka. Walk to the Super Duka to purchase a few grocery items. Walk to the visit the veggie Mamas and carefully plan out what I will buy so that I purchase something for each and every one of them. Walk home and soak and wash all purchased produce. Walk down to maintenance to purchase eggs. Put away all the washed produce. Start preparing dinner. Serve dinner at 7:00pm. Clean up and wash dishes. Get kids in pjs. Play a quick card game with kids and send them to bed. Sit down and respond to any emails from the day. Phew! The high altitude (Kijabe has an altitude of 7,500 ft), walking uphill, and being 25 weeks pregnant, really tires me out! Time to crash at 10:30pm.
